Pig and Whistle Tavern | Mornington Peninsula

We stopped by Pig and Whistle Tavern as part of our tour with Bunyip tours Melbourne for lunch.
The pub was quite interesting, I felt like I was in an Irish pub :)

Fish and Chips
Battered fish served with chips, salad and tartare sauce.
Nicely battered, salad was a few pieces of leaves and lacked seasoning.
It was really crunchy but tasteless.

Beef and Guinness House made Pie
8 hour braised chunky steak in a rich gravy sauce.
The mash was creamy and fluffy. I enjoyed the taste of the gravy sauce as well.
\Out of the four dishes we tried, I think the pie topped the chart.

Salt and Pepper Calamari
Lightly fried calamari seasoned with sea salt and pepper served with salad, caper mayonnaise and fresh lemon. Hmmm, the dish overall lacked seasoning.

Chicken Parma
Chicken breast schnitzel topped with Napoli sauce, ham and melted cheese served with chips and salad. The Napoli sauce was too strong for my liking.

When we were seated indoor, it smelt like a male public toilet making my experience at Pig and Whistle Tavern extremely uncomfortable and unpleasant. Once we stepped foot outside to see the lovely rose garden, it was a different experience.  If we were to return, we will definitely sit outdoor.

The Bunyip tour was well worth it and we had an amazing time from the Mornington Peninsula Hot Springs to the Enchanted Maze Garden and finishing at Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm.
