Ho Jiak | Strathfield

We have seen a recent surge in Instagram traffic for people visiting Ho Jiak in Strathfield. Primarily for their noodles that look like they are straight out of Harry Potter. Yes, they levitate!! As curious as we were to try this dish, our eyes wondered to the fried section of the menu where some of our favourites, char koay teow and nasi goreng were hiding.

Penang Fried Koay Teow
This dish was amazing, we loved every single element including the thinly sliced seafood cake, prawns, Chinese sausage and especially the little bits of fried pork fat *drools*. The wok hei was evident and there was a Pugh spice to give it a kick without needing to add any additional sauce from their self serve sauce station. All in all, the koay teow was flavoursome, wholesome and definitely something you don't eat every day!

Nasi Goreng
Nasi Goreng is a favourite of ours when it is done right. Ho Jiak serves up their Nasi goreng with belachan, prawns, fish cake and a sunny side up egg and for an additional cost you can get chicken wings served on the side. This was nice, but by far it's not the best we have tasted. There was definitely something missing to give it the kick we expected. Next time we might try the floating noodles instead!
