Chargrill Charlies | Rosebay

A little known fact, Sydney is divided by chicken. Known for years by Sydney Residents is the Red Rooster line, and the social economic differences both East and West of the line (Natassia Chrysanthos and Ann Ding explain it best here). While the West have been graced with the age old El Jannah, it's only fair that the North has access to incredible chicken.

That is where Chargrill Charlie's comes along, it is almost accurate to say that Chargrill Charlie's is the El Jannah of the North. Chargrill Charlie's award winning recipe's have kept people coming back for years, and not only locals but celebrities as well (including Oprah, Hugh Jackman and lets also not forget the time Justin Bieber visited (you can see the rest below). Chargrill Charlie's offers takeaway, dine in, catering and just about anything you can think of - including a loyalty app. You can find them at various locations including Annandale, Lane Cove, Mona Vale, Mossman, Neutral Bay, Rose Bay, St Ives, Wahroonga, Willoughby and Woollahra.

Chargrill Charlie's Chicken

Chargrill Charlie's are cooked in a specially designed rotisserie, this is a method that has been adopted some 25 years ago and to this day still used. There is simply no reason to change something that tastes so good. The skin was crispy, and you can really taste the flavours of the grill throughout the moist, tender chicken pieces. You know the chicken is perfect when you hear the skin snap as you tear it apart. It is best to share a whole chicken, or eat it yourself.. it tastes amazing and we would not judge anyone for eating it whole. The chickens are also hormone and chemical free in case you were curious!

We had a feast, as you can tell, with our foodie friends! It's definitely a great way to bond and an excuse to catch up with friends at Chargrill Charlie's. As everyone is so busy nowadays, sometimes you might not have time to sit down and enjoy a meal.

Chargrill Charlie's Salads 

 Chargrill Charlie's salads are probably the best quick and healthy option for busy people like us. If we weren't living in the Shire, we would probably drop by a Chargrill Charlie's location, pick up some tasty salad for dinner and leftovers for lunch the next day! Their salad are fresh and they source the best seasonal produce available. They also have up to fifteen different salads to choose from every day which changes weekly!!!

You are probably thinking the same thing as we did, we came here for chicken so why would we eat a beef burger? Well we decided to order one to see just how it matches up to the 100's of other burger places out there. It was satisfying to have the taste of the dry-aged beef stand out in all it's char grilled glory throughout the dish. It was definitely the most prominent flavour, even though there was grilled wagyu pastrami, house made pickles and a super secret sauce. While it was a nice burger, it wasn't our favourite and next time we visit there will likely be two birds on the table, one for Christine and another for Matt!

We were exploring their busy store in Rose Bay and spotted homemade soup as well as homemade pickles. It would be perfect for a soup in this weather!
