Taste of Cockle Bay Wharf | Darling Harbour
Cockle Bay Wharf is a hidden gem with amazing harbour views, fireworks and plenty of great venues. It's not only a place for tourists to visit but for it's a location for local businesses, celebrations and a family day/night out! We had a unique taste of Cockle Bay where we experienced what Hunter & Barrell, Adria, Nick's Cafe and Bar, Blackbird and Cafe Del Mar had to offer. Thank you again to Twentieth Letter, Nick's Group and Cockle Bay Wharf for the tour of Cockle Bay Wharf. Our first venue was at Hunter & Barrell where we were greeted by the lovely hosts of the evening. Bloggers were assigned a Team Leader who would be guiding them through the Cockle Bay experience - we were led by Katie #teamkatie!
Hunter & Barrel
Mona was telling us about Hunter & Barrel and how it's really about coal fire and meat. Inside the restaurant, you can hear the crackle from the fire, smell the meat smoking and see the stacks of coals by the pit. If you are after something hearty, slow-cooked with craft beers or wines on tap, then Hunter & Barrel is calling for you. They also have a barrel-aged cocktail which we had the pleasure of tasting. Nibbles also started coming out from the kitchen! We sampled the hot cheese dip with grilled flatbread. The cheese dip was so creamy and left us wanting more whilst the flatbread was so soft and warm. It was slightly hard to scoop the cheese with the flatbread but we managed to do it. We then saw their crispy buffalo chicken wings which had the perfect amount of zing and flavour.
Adria Bar Restaurant | Nick's Restaurant & Bar Group
Adria captures the tastes of the Adriatic coast with it's warm, laidback and rustic atmosphere. We were seated in a special corner overseeing large mirrors and fairy lights. It felt so relaxing and oddly romantic even though we were seated in a boardroom style layout. We started with an introduction to Pampelle's Ruby Red Grapefruit Aperitif. Pampelle captures the bitter-sweet flavours of organic ruby red grapefruit from Corsica together with carefully selected botanicals to create a versatile apéritif that is naturally low in sugar. We had amazing truffle arancini balls, perfectly cooked sliders and spinach and cheese triangles. If you are ever hosting an event here, the spinach and cheese triangles are a must - it's not just your ordinary appetizer.
Nick's Seafood | Nick's Restaurant & Bar Group
Our second venue on the Taste of Cockle Bay tour was at Nick's Seafood. I can already picture this as a great place to chill out after work on a Friday night with drinks, music and nibbles. We had an oyster shucking class demonstrated right in front of our eyes and the speed was incredible. We were offered to try shuck an oyster and politely declined but instead, I slurped up a few oysters! The oysters were so fresh, sweet and perfectly complimented with a squeeze of lemon. We also enjoyed perfectly cooked scallops which was served with an amazing sweet sauce.
Blackbird Cafe
We were super excited for Blackbird's cocktail making class which is available for the public as well. It's a fun and quick cocktail class and you'd be surprised how easy it is to make a cocktail. We decided to take the Mojito cocktail class and started off with cutting the lime, crushing the lime in the glass, adding ice to the glass, pour 1 x shot of sugar syrup and 2 x shots of bacardi (or more if you want), chuck a bunch of mints in and mix it all up!
Cafe Del Mar
Our last and final stop on the Cockle Bay Wharf was a roof top party at Cafe Del Mar. What a way to end the night with a cheese station, cocktails and goodie bags. We had the balcony area which was quite chilli but we could see how nice it would be on a nice summers night.
