Mekong Restaurant | Chippendale
Mekong Restaurant is located on level 2, 14 Kensington Street in Chippendale. Chef Tiw Rakarin, formerly of Mama’s Buoi (Surry Hills) and Alphabet St (Cronulla), launched Mekong as his newest venture. We took advantage of The Fork's 50% off special and enjoyed a discounted meal at Mekong Restaurant.
Mekong Share Plate
The options for entree were overwhelming in a great way where I couldn't decide on what to order! Luckily, we spotted the Mekong Share Plate which had most items we wanted to order and my favourite from the share plate was the seafood crepe (banh xeo).
Confit Red Duck Curry
The pineapple was a great addition to the dish to provide the dish with added acidity. The duck was well cooked and we had fun pulling it apart. The curry was fragrant and we poured leftover sauce so to our bowl of rice.

Beef Cheek Curry
The beef cheek with sweet potato, cinnamon and roti was delicious and the beef pulled apart perfectly. The beef cheek curry reminded me of a classic Massaman curry (without the nuts) and it came recommended from a colleague. This dish was enjoyable but quite moreish.
