Bang Tang | Potts Point

Bang Tang is a hidden gem located on the quieter side of Potts Point. Tucked away on Victoria Street, you will find this Asian inspired eatery which taking you on a culinary journey through various parts of Asia (Japan, Thailand and Vietnam).

We began with a couple starters which included the cigar rolls, tuna bomb and vegan gyoza. The cigar roll is essentially a crispy spring roll but with an amazing twist. This spring roll will blow your mind with tom yum and coconut flavours exploding in your mouth. It was a truly spectacular way to start the dining experience. The tuna bomb is a tuna croquette served with spicy mayo. Lastly, we enjoyed the crispy vegan gyoza with cabbage, radish and carrot. We felt like we traveled to Thailand and Japan in the starters alone.

We knew we were in for a treat for the rest of the evening. We tasted the Juicy Belly which is a 4 hour stewed pork belly served with soft rice noodle, beansprout and a flavourful soy broth. The pork was so tender and literally fell apart in each bite and the flavours from the sauce just brought me back to my childhood. This dish clearly showcases flavours from Vietnam with a modernised twist.

The classic soba bowl is one of Bang Tang's all time favourite and you can pick your choice of crispy chicken or crispy tofu. The bowl had so many colours popping from the carrot, cucumber, daikon and nori. If you enjoy a subtle flavoured soba dish with a light soy and sesame sauce, this is the dish for you.

The prawn passion was such a sweet dish with the passionfruit dressing and toasted coconut. This dish also comes with crispy kale, carrot and mint. We've never tasted anything close to the prawn passion but quite liked it. The sweet and savoury flavour reminded me of a little bit of flavours from Thailand.
