Fratelli Fresh | Sydney CBD

We have heard many great things about Fratelli Fresh and since Christie had a craving for wood fired pizza, we decided to visit Fratelli Fresh in Macquarie Street. Sadly the cravings go astray as not only did it not satisfy her cravings but it left us feeling a little disappointed by the end of the night. That aside, the service was great and the food was brought out quick and hot!

Tomato, Buffalo Mozzarella and Basil
The pizza was served hot and our first pieces were crunchy however as we dined throughout the evening, the pizza ended up quite soggy. Additionally the cheese was very sparse and in some cases had not properly melted and just slipped right off the pizza. The pizza base sauce was the only solace we could find with it's thick qualities that was provided in abundance!

Crisp Polenta, Mushrooms and Gorgonzola Piccante
Polenta is always on our mind, even more so when the menu adds cheese to the equation - YUM! Unfortunately in this instance the title did not do itself justice. The polenta might have started off nice and crispy, however the gorgonzola piccante quickly turned it soft and soggy. The flavours were really enjoyable though, and we loved how the mushrooms gave the dish that much needed texture. We would order this dish again but request that the piccante be served on the side!

Zucchini Flowers Stuffed with 5 Italian Cheeses
What more could you want? Lightly battered Zucchini flowers stuffed with 5 different types of cheese and served piping ho to the point where the cheese oozed out of every crevase when you bit into it. This definitely brought the wow factor, and by all means it should when it costs $5 each, every mouthful was heavenly.

Aside from the fact that Matt couldn't access the place easily on crutches as the restaurant is located underground, we may be back for anything other than pizza once he heals up.
