Degani | Zetland

Do you ever get that feeling, when your bones are aching for something smokey, delicious and just damn messy? Whether it's the smell from the sauces or smokiness seeping out of the kitchen door, what we're talking about are ribs, lick your fingers, fall off the bone and melt in your mouth ribs. Your first thought might lead astray to Hurricanes and don't get us wrong, we love and live by their ribs but alas there is a hidden gem in Zetland that rivals even the king of ribs, Hurricanes. Located in East Village Shopping Centre, Degani is a perfect venue for any occasion.

Pork Ribs
We normally order beef ribs at the first sign of it on the menu, but we were convinced to taste the glory of their signature pork ribs with either Degani's homemade BBQ or house chilli sauce. We decided on the BBQ sauce and it was incredible. Intense smokey flavours through the sweet and thick BBQ sauce.. we had to try the chilli sauce though and wow it kicks a punch. If it's hard to decide, get both and do yourself a favour. The slow cooked ribs were literally falling off the bone - unlike most pork ribs that you encounter, there was little resistance at all! Their steakhouse chips are also deliciously crunchy, addictive and we think, beer battered as well. But get ready to get your hands dirty to enjoy these ribs!

Barramundi
Who orders fish at a rib place? Christine of course because she always says that she is on a "seafood diet" - anything she sees, she eats and the barramundi is no exception. With skin this crispy, it's hard not to devour this dish. It was a great surprise considering that there was no mention of it on the menu. Perfectly seasoned, it also came with a lemon butter cream sauce. The sauce admittedly was quite bland but worked well to not overpower the seasoned fish.

Calamari
Woops! We were to focused and excited to share the ribs with you that we seemed to have skipped over the entree. The calamari was soft on the inside and cooked in a light batter which didn't leave you with oily fingers. The chipotle mayo accompanying this dish was perfect! If you ask for more, you can dip those crunchy chips into it too!

After Dark Shake: Cookie
Okay so we were extremely full at this point but we were introduced to the After Dark Shake *ooooOOo* Yes, we were intrigued. What makes this dessert shake so special? Hint: you have to be over 18. Yep, you guessed it! It has alcohol in it. So this Cookies & Cream shake was served with alcohol and we enjoyed every single sip.
