I Love Pho | Crows Nest

I Love Pho is an authentic Vietnamese restaurant located in Crows Nest. You would be glad to know for every meal purchased, a portion is donated to build schools in Vietnam's regional area. We dined here on a weeknight and saw countless of takeaway orders - which comes in a pretty paper bag with the I Love Pho logo on it. You might've seen it around on Willoughby Road. I was telling my colleagues about I Love Pho and one of the girls said she loves the crispy chicken! We were tempted to try it but couldn't resist going past their spring rolls and pho (of course).

Hanoi Spring Rolls
If you haven't tried Hanoi style spring rolls, you are missing out! The texture is different to the usual egg spring roll wrap. The Hanoi spring roll is wrapped with rice paper roll and deep fried! It's delicious but the cooking process absorbs A LOT of oil - so definitely add this to your next cheat day.

Warm Rice Paper Roll with BBQ Duck
This is a classic vietnamese dish usually served with pork mince and wood ear mushrooms (known as Banh Cuon) however, I Love Pho took a modernised twist and you can choose your own filling! We decided to choose the BBQ Duck filling which was nice however slightly dry.
Beef Balls Pho
Having the restaurant named I Love Pho means we had to order the pho, pho-sure. Christine grew up in Cabramatta and with a Vietnamese background, she has been exposed to eating Vietnamese cuisine since she was little. What makes a Pho dish amazing is the flavour of the soup. The beef balls and noodles were nice however, the broth was quite subtle. We ended up mixing tablespoons of the hoisin sauce to get the desired flavour. Perhaps our tastebuds are used to bold flavours but this dish would've been perfect if the broth had more flavour.

Mixed Vermicelli Bowl
The sugarcane prawn had a nice texture however the actual sugarcane itself was quite dry and didn't have the sweetness we were after. The grilled beef had a subtle smokey flavour and spring rolls were exactly as described. When everything was mixed together, it was a dish that satisfied your hunger.
